Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Engineering Career Starter Courses
If you are interested in starting a career in Aviation we have a range of Engineering focused courses that will put you on the right track.
Career Starter Pathways
Pre-apprenticeship Courses
Train with Australia’s largest CASR and EASA Part 147 approved Maintenance Training Organisation.
Our pre-apprenticeship courses give you the theory for a Certificate IV in Aeroskills in Avionics, Mechanical or Structures, so you’re ready to step straight into an apprenticeship. You’ll learn from instructors with years of experience across commercial and Defence aviation, and your training aligns with CASR Part 66, putting you on the path to becoming a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
Queensland Government funded qualifications
Apprenticeship and Traineeship Courses
An aviation apprenticeship or traineeship lets you earn while you learn, combining paid work with formal training through a Registered Training Organisation. You can do it full-time, part-time or while you’re still at school.
When you finish, you’ll hold a nationally recognised qualification that’s respected across Australia and overseas. Aviation Australia has funding approval in several states to train apprentices and trainees, so you can get started wherever you’re based.
For Diploma level, where all CASA licencing requirements are met (including time in industry); Aviation Australia will submit the required documentation to CASA for the issue of an initial Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence. The trainee must then apply to CASA for the Licence; forwarding the required documentation for the application.

Richard
I was introduced to Aviation Australia through my employer, so I could obtain a Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures). Adrian and Dave were nothing but helpful as they offered me their guidance and time. I felt prepared for the exams and never felt alone in the process. I am now proud to call them my past teachers as well as professional connections.
Isabella
After completing the course I secured a job with Jetstar. I love being able to put what I learned into action. Working on aircraft provides the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of each system.
Po-Ying
I believe the great training facilities at Aviation Australia plus the instructors have been the key in empowering our learning, which made the course so enjoyable.
Elaine
The most important thing I have learned is that you only fail when you stop trying. I applied that thinking to everything I did and it helped me succeed. I learned a lot from my experienced instructors, through the experiences they shared which taught us how to work in the industry.
Yash
Aviation Australia was a good platform for me to kick start my career. The instructors were so knowledgeable and always tried to improve us and make us better engineers. Despite staying away from my family, I loved living, studying and working in Australia.
