John initially applied for recognition of prior learning, which recognised his previous CASA ATPL results towards the qualification – leaving gap training for 3 components – Risk, Security (online) and Multi Crew Cooperation (practical).
John completed the online subjects, and chose to complete his MCC training comprising 2 days of ground school and 5 days practical simulator training in Perth. Candidates can choose to complete their MCC training in Perth, Brisbane or Sydney – an important consideration in these times of travel restrictions.
John achieved the qualification in only 4 months and was very impressed with how simple the process was – from RPL to completing his gap training.
Currently, John is a captain for Chartair, a charter company located in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Cairns, offering scenic flights and private charters. He chose this course not only to upskill, but also to be able to apply his learnings to his current role and support and encourage his fellow colleagues.
Congratulations to John and a big thank you to Kristina and Denis for organising the RPL competency assessment and Peter our Perth based MCC instructor who provided the practical training to achieve John’s goal.
